An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join our Engineering team at the Billingham Energy from Waste facility.
This is a key role responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering the site's annual planned outages, while supporting day-to-day maintenance planning activities to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant.
Unlike many Energy from Waste facilities, Billingham operates three planned shutdowns each year, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys coordinating complex engineering activities, working closely with multiple disciplines and seeing planned work successfully delivered.
Salary: £46,566.47
Benefits: 10% bonus, 3x life assurance policy, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, 5% employer pension, sick pay, and additional benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 7.30am-4.00pm (mon - thurs), 7.30-1.00pm (fri)
About The Role
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will take ownership of planning and coordinating all planned maintenance shutdown activities across the site.
Your primary responsibility will be the successful delivery of the site's three annual planned outages.
Working alongside Operations, Maintenance, Procurement and Contractors, you will ensure every outage is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget.

You'll also support routine maintenance planning between shutdowns, ensuring resources, materials and contractors are effectively coordinated.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Develop and manage detailed shutdown and maintenance plans using Microsoft Project and CMMS, ensuring effective scheduling, resource allocation and maximum plant availability.
- Manage shutdown delivery by controlling scope, critical path activities, progress and leading the planning meetings.
- Monitor outage performance throughout execution, manage emerging work, update schedules and lead post-shutdown reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate engineering, maintenance and contractor resources throughout planning and execution, producing comprehensive work packs including job plans, permits, risk assessments, resource requirements and spares.
What are the requirements?
We're looking for an organised and proactive planner with a strong engineering background who enjoys bringing together people, resources and engineering expertise to deliver complex activities safely and efficiently.
You Will Have
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (minimum ONC or equivalent).
- Proven maintenance planning experience within Energy from Waste, power generation, process manufacturing, steam raising or other heavy industrial environments, including the planning and coordination of shutdowns, outages or turnaround activities.
- Experience using CMMS and project planning software such as Microsoft Project.
- Experience of contractor management, procurement and inventory control, together with experience working within a regulated industrial environment and a recognised health and safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple disciplines and manage competing priorities effectively.
