SUEZ is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the sustainability and energy recovery sector, helping transform waste into energy while reducing environmental impact.
You’ll join a supportive, multi-skilled team where your contribution matters from day one. Whether you're an experienced maintenance engineer or have recently completed an engineering apprenticeship, this role offers genuine responsibility, ongoing development, and the chance to build a rewarding career in sustainable operations.
Salary: £45,808
Benefits: £3,000 call-out allowance, up to 10% annual bonus, 5% employer pension contribution, 25 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays
Location: Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 3:45pm
About The Role
What will I be doing?
As a Mechanical Technician within our Energy Recovery facility, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working in a fast-paced industrial environment, you'll contribute directly to delivering sustainable energy solutions and supporting the circular economy.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across site plant and equipment.
- Using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to accurately record maintenance activities and updates.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across different engineering disciplines and supporting other sites when required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety documentation, and plant records following modifications or repairs.
- Participating in a paid 24-hour call-out rota and attending training and development activities as required.
What are the requirements?
- Completed engineering apprenticeship with a City & Guilds qualification or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam-raising, manufacturing, energy, waste, or heavy engineering environment.
- Knowledge of safe systems of work, including permit-to-work procedures and working within regulated environments.
- A health and safety qualification such as IOSH, alongside welding and burning experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS, a basic understanding of electrical systems, and regulatory monitoring experience; MCERTS certification is desirable but not essential.
