Improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Gloucestershire.
About The Team and Roles
In Gloucestershire, our focus is on enabling an inclusive education system, providing the right support at the right time and in the right place. As a local authority we are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people and are investing in our capacity through creating additional posts within Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) service and other SEND services to help us to meet local need.
We offer agile working. As a team we split our time between working from home and collaborative working in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week. In addition, we aim for visits to schools and settings to take place on a regular basis as we continue to build our collaborative working with them. You must be able to visit schools and settings with very little notice should the need arise.
Our EHCP service is there to support those who may need additional help to meet short or long needs to help children and young people fulfil their potential and currently have full and part time permanent vacancies:
EHCP Service Vacancies:
- EHCP Case Coordinators within the review and assessment teams
In these roles you will be part of our EHCP team, working as part of a team of officers who support mediation and resolution work and timely and meaningful annual reviews. You will work closely with education providers, developing strong working relationships across education, health, social care, and with young people and their families to improve outcomes and ensure access to inclusive and appropriate education for all children and young people with SEND.
About You
You will have excellent relational and communication skills and the ability to work co-productively and creatively with other professionals, children and young people and their families, to address identified needs. You will need to have an excellent understanding of SEN legislation and have empathy for the challenges that young people and their families experience, as well as competence in assessing and reviewing the needs of vulnerable children, young people and their families.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
