We are looking for an experienced EHS Advisor for capital projects to join our growing team and be seconded into one of our key client accounts, supporting the safe delivery of a portfolio of capital projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional who enjoys working closely with project teams, contractors and operational stakeholders, playing a hands-on role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently from concept through to handover.
As the dedicated EHS resource within the client's project environment, you will provide practical support across project governance, contractor management, CDM compliance, critical risk management and construction phase assurance activities.

The Role
This is a varied and highly visible client-facing role that combines technical EHS expertise, project support, contractor engagement and compliance assurance.
As an EHS Advisor working on capital projects, you will be embedded within one of our client's project teams, working alongside project managers, contractors and operational stakeholders to ensure construction and engineering projects are delivered in accordance with legal requirements, client standards and project governance expectations.
You'll support:
- Capital project delivery from concept through to handover
- Contractor management and mobilisation activities
- Project EHS governance and assurance processes
- Critical risk management and verification
- Construction phase safety oversight
- CDM compliance and duty holder coordination
- Incident investigation and lessons learned
- Auditing, inspections and compliance assurance
- Project inductions, engagement and safety culture initiatives

- Capital Project EHS Support: Provide practical health, safety and environmental guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from planning, design and mobilisation through to construction, commissioning and handover. Support Project Managers in identifying EHS risks, implementing appropriate control measures, and contributing to project governance, assurance and compliance activities.
- Contractor Management: Support with contractor pre-qualification, selection & competence reviews, mobilisation, compliance monitoring and performance reviews to ensure safe project delivery. Monitor contractor compliance with site EHS requirements and escalate significant EHS concerns where necessary.
- Construction Phase Assurance, Site Inspection & Compliance: Undertake site inspections, audits and assurance reviews, including critical risk verification activities. Verify the implementation of RAMS, permit systems and safe systems of work, intervening where deficiencies or unsafe conditions are identified. Monitor contractor supervision arrangements and site safety performance.
- Provide assurance and support for critical risk controls: This includes Work at Height, Electrical Safety, Isolation & LOTO, Lifting Operations, Confined Space Entry, Excavation Safety, Hot Works, and Vehicle & Pedestrian Interface.
- CDM Compliance & Construction Safety: Support Project Managers in meeting CDM requirements, including design risk reviews, Construction Phase Plans, duty-holder coordination and associated project documentation.
- Incident Management, Investigation & Continuous Improvement: Support investigations into incidents, near misses and environmental events, track corrective actions, and promote the sharing of root causes and lessons learned through reports, dashboards and performance summaries.
- Leadership, Engagement, Training & Safety Culture: Build strong working relationships with contractors, project teams, and operational stakeholders, deliver project and contractor inductions, conduct safety conversations and engagement activities and promote proactive reporting and positive intervention to support the development of a positive and proactive safety culture
The Requirements & Desirable Capabilities
Essential
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum GradIOSH
- Experience in an EHS role within construction, engineering, manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience supporting contractors and high-risk activities
- Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations
- Experience reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Experience supporting Permit-to-Work systems
- Good understanding of Health & Safety at Work legislation
- Good working knowledge of contractor management requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK Driving Licence

Highly Desirable
- Capital project experience
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering or advanced technology environments
- Experience working within Principal Contractor or major contractor environments
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Environmental qualification
- CDM or Construction Safety related qualification
Advantageous
- Experience within semiconductor, clean room or advanced manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting intelligent client responsibilities on capital projects
- Knowledge of EHS Management System bridging and contractor governance frameworks
- TechIOSH progressing towards CMIOSH

The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong planning and prioritisation skills. You'll have the ability to balance project demands while maintaining high standards of EHS performance and compliance.
