Main Purpose
To promote and support the highest levels of environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance through the application of the site EHS management system, making sure that legal and company requirements are met and using risk assessment to drive continuous improvement.

Preference will be given to candidates with environmental and/or decommissioning experience.
Key Responsibilities
The following list is not exhaustive but includes:
- Value stream support: provide day-to-day EHS advice, guidance and support to managers and staff in allocated value streams, and act as subject matter expert on agreed EHS topics.
- Projects and decommissioning: support the safe introduction of new products, processes and equipment, and the development, modification and decommissioning of facilities throughout the project and asset lifecycle.
- Environmental: support compliance with environmental permits and legislation, including waste management, emissions, discharges and spill prevention.
- Strategies and plans: contribute to EHS strategies, plans, policies, procedures and risk assessment methods, and identify and communicate new legislation relevant to the site.
- Measures and reporting: record adverse events and KPIs, trend and analyse injury and near-miss data, contribute to site EHS performance statistics, and complete statutory reporting, including RIDDOR reporting to the HSE.
- Incident investigation: support managers with incident prevention and investigation, leading investigations where required and tracking corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Audit: support management monitoring, such as gemba walks and Level 1 audits, and carry out independent Level 2 audits in line with the site audit schedule, reporting findings and CAPAs. Work effectively with external auditors and regulators.
- Training: create and deliver EHS training at all levels, and identify training needs and providers.
- Communications: reinforce the site's EHS culture through timely, engaging communications, including alerts and legislative updates.
- Emergency support: act as Incident Co-ordinator when required, liaising between emergency teams, the control room and site management to protect life and prevent escalation.
- Inductions and site controls: support the safe systems of work, site rules, security and induction process based on Wade CMC systems and processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
