About BYD

BYD is a global leader in electric vehicles and clean energy solutions, with a clear purpose: to build a zero-emission future that reconnects humanity with nature. As BYD continues its rapid growth in the UK, we are building a best-in-class in-house media capability to drive brand awareness, consideration, and demand for our EV & PHEV portfolio.

About the Role

As EHS Manager, you will take ownership of Health, Safety, and Environmental performance across our portfolio of grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the UK. Working closely with engineering, operations, contractors, clients, and investors, you will ensure that all activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with industry best practice.

This role covers the full project lifecycle, from construction and commissioning through to long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M). You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust HSE systems, leading audits and inspections, investigating incidents, and driving a proactive safety culture across multiple sites.

This role is a field base role including travelling to 3 locations in the UK.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing, implementing, and continuously improving HSE management systems for high-voltage BESS projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK legislation, including CDM 2015, the Health and Safety at Work Act, Electricity at Work Regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Conducting site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across multiple locations.
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Reviewing and approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Acting as the primary HSE contact for clients, investors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior HSE personnel while promoting a positive, safety-first culture throughout the organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
