The Widnes site of BASF Agricultural Solutions is our Centre of Excellence for Pest Control, where we manufacture and pack rodenticides to high quality standards.

What You Can Expect

  • Lead and continuously improve the Widnes site EHSQ framework, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, BASF Responsible Care expectations and internal management system standards.
  • Take ownership of the site’s Responsible Care Management System, working with colleagues across all EHS disciplines to maintain robust processes, documentation and governance.
  • Manage the Quality function and EHSQ team, including ISO management systems, quality documentation and analytical service delivery for the Widnes site.
  • Provide clear regulatory, compliance and risk management leadership through internal audits, risk assessments, KPI reporting and timely implementation of new or changing requirements.
  • Act as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, providing strategic EHSQ guidance, supporting site decision-making and helping shape priorities for safe, compliant and reliable operations.
  • Strengthen the site’s safety culture by engaging employees, encouraging learning from incidents and feedback, and recognising positive contributions to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Country Cluster, Operating Division and site stakeholders to share best practice, support improvement initiatives and maintain the site’s licence to operate.
  • Build and develop capable teams by supporting training compliance, coaching, employee engagement and performance development.
  • Represent the site professionally with external stakeholders including regulators, emergency services, local authorities and neighbouring sites, while supporting emergency planning and preparedness activities.

What You Offer

  • A degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality, Science, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline; NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent EHS qualification would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in an EHSQ, production, manufacturing, laboratory, engineering or operational leadership role, ideally within a regulated industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS management systems, Responsible Care principles, ISO standards, risk management and relevant legal, regulatory and BASF internal requirements.
  • A practical understanding of manufacturing site operations, with the ability to translate compliance requirements into clear, workable processes and behaviours.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage colleagues at all levels and work collaboratively across functions.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with experience leading improvement activities, managing change and supporting safe, compliant and reliable site performance.
  • The ability to coach, develop and support others, building capability and ownership within the team and across the wider site.
  • Good digital capability, including Microsoft Office and relevant BASF or production-related systems, with fluency in English.
