EHV Project Construction Manager

Yorkshire (Hybrid)

Permanent & Full Time

Salary (DOE) + Car Allowance & Flexible Benefits

Summary

Freedom Power Projects team are seeking a new Construction Manager to take ownership of the delivery of construction works for a ICP 132kV Substation project. This will include a mixture of Civils and Electrical works.

The candidate will be Yorkshire based and able to travel to work (or board locally) at the construction site near Harrogate.

Key Deliverables

  • Demonstrable experience on EHV/HV construction schemes at 132/66kV - experience in ICP, Private Networks or DNO project work is strongly preferable, though candidates with relevant transferable skills and backgrounds will be considered.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Freedom Group and its customers
  • Responsible for both planning and overseeing the safe delivery of construction works.
  • Take ownership of project construction programme and work closely with the Planners to schedule updates and report on progress
  • Oversee implementation of the Quality management process on site – ensuring ITP’s used, photographs taken, documenting progress, hold points and client witness/inspection etc
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings, relay details and resolve any queries with the PM/Project Engineer/Design Engineers.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager, Engineering and Commercial teams, proactively anticipating and communicating risks, issues and progress to the project team.
  • Proactively managing H&S risks, issues & concerns so that an accident and incident free culture is maintained
  • Maintain awareness of H&S policy and rules and keep up to date on changes that impact your role.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations
  • Motivate Freedom and Supply Chain staff to deliver high quality work in a consistent manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring Sub-Contractors and Suppliers carry out works in a safe and professional manner representative of Freedom standards.
  • Resource planning and co-ordination associated with internal and external resources
  • Be creative in finding solutions to resource / schedule / construction problems to maintain project delivery
  • Preparation / checking and ensuring correct key safety paperwork is in place (CPP, RAMS, Permits, POWRA etc)

What We’re Looking For

  • Civils or Electrical primary bias will be considered but experience of the other secondary discipline to a certain degree is required i.e. experience on multi discipline schemes required.
  • Hold SMSTS
  • Hold appropriate CSCS/ECS Card
  • CDM 2015 competent
  • Hold IOSH in Health & Safety - Desirable
  • Experience with Northern Powergrid (NPg) DNO competencies / requirements is not essential but would be favourable
