Purpose of the Role

As a member of the Resources & Production regional operational team, the EICA Engineer forms part of a flexible, sub-regional resource pool providing specialist support and coordination across operational maintenance activities.

The role is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of maintenance activities across electrical, instrumentation, control, automation, and wider treatment assets. Working across multiple operational sites, the EICA Engineer provides expert technical knowledge to ensure the reliability, performance and compliance of operational assets while supporting both planned and reactive maintenance requirements.

The role requires advanced hands-on maintenance expertise, strong self-management skills and the ability to independently plan, organise and deliver maintenance activities. The EICA Engineer will support asset reliability improvements, undertake fault investigation and root cause analysis, and contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across treatment operations.

The post holder will work flexibly across South West Water (SWW) and Bristol Water (BW) operational areas according to business priorities and operational need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver maintenance activities across EICA and treatment assets.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to operational maintenance teams across multiple sites.
  • Undertake advanced fault finding, diagnostics, repair and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist in identifying asset performance issues, undertake root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Lean Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles and asset improvement programmes.
  • Coordinate planned preventative maintenance programmes and support delivery of reactive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using company systems and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with site operations, engineering and maintenance teams to optimise asset performance and reliability.
  • Undertake site reviews and provide recommendations to improve operational performance and asset resilience.
  • Support operational resilience by responding to urgent maintenance requirements and business-critical incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and knowledge sharing across regional operational teams.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, environmental compliance and operational excellence.
  • Participate in operational improvement projects, working groups and business change initiatives as required.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practice across the regional operational teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
