Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) Administrator

Location: Hybrid working, with two days per week at our Durrington office. Tuesday is the team day, with flexibility around the second office day.

Contract type: 3-month fixed-term contract

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on skills and experience

About the role

We're looking for an Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) Administrator to join our ESG team and support the management of environmental information requests across Southern Water.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to try something new, broaden their experience and gain exposure to information governance, compliance and regulatory work. You'll play a key role in ensuring requests are logged, tracked and progressed within statutory timescales, while working with teams across the business to gather information, maintain accurate records and prepare draft responses.

The role would suit an organised administrator who enjoys working with information, managing competing deadlines and building effective relationships. Previous EIR or Freedom of Information experience is not essential. We'll support you to build your knowledge and confidence in this specialist area.

For an internal applicant, this could be a valuable short-term development opportunity. For an external applicant, it offers a varied temporary assignment and the chance to gain experience within a highly regulated industry.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Managing the administrative processing of EIR requests, ensuring they are logged, tracked and monitored through to completion.
  • Supporting compliance with statutory deadlines by coordinating actions and following up with stakeholders across the business.
  • Gathering information from teams and maintaining regular communication regarding outstanding requests.
  • Preparing draft correspondence, responses and disclosure packs for review by senior colleagues and Legal Services where required.
  • Maintaining accurate case files, records and audit trails to support compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting Internal Reviews, ICO enquiries and complaint investigations through the collation of relevant information and documentation.
  • Producing routine compliance reports and management information.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of guidance materials, templates and team procedures.
  • Providing administrative support for awareness activities and training sessions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
