Description
Keoghs is seeking to recruit a Construction Technical Lead to deal with delegated and non-delegated high value Construction and EL/PL claims. This diverse role offers an excellent opportunity to work within Keoghs’ thriving Corporate Sector Risks Practice with a variety of high-profile construction, retail and insurance clients.
The successful candidate will predominantly handle a specialist/high value case load up to a value of £1,000,000. The successful candidate would also be a Technical Lead for several Construction clients and be involved and may lead in both client and internal technical meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Lead:
- Construction Technical Lead and Point of contact for day-to-day queries for both Keoghs, Client Managers / Team Leaders, Broker and Insurer
- Technical referrals point for all Corporate Risks construction accounts.
- Responsible for preparing and maintaining client litigation handling manuals and regularly updates on changes and developments
- Provide technical oversight, supervision, mentoring and training across pre-litigation and litigation construction teams.
- Devise strategies and updates on industry developments
- Sign court documents for construction clients and support technical quality, governance, and risk management across the portfolio.
- Manage a small number of construction client risks and provide technical input on client opportunities as the sector grows.
- Lead liaison on client audits for designated Construction clients with support from Client Service Manager
- Support the CAM with litigation handling manuals and regularly update team on any changes and developments
- Prepare for and attend Operational and Performance review meetings with Construction clients to include focus on KPIs (quality/defensibility) and claims risk related performance, and ownership of technical aspects of claims pack
- Attendance at internal technical meetings led by Technical Manager/Director

File Handling:
- Building relationships with Keoghs clients and, where appropriate Insurers
- Manage a mixed caseload of construction / EL/PL multi track/specialist cases consisting of claims typically valued more than £100,000
- Minimum five chargeable hours per day
- Provide assistance to CAMS and Partners on specialist and high value claims up to a value of £1,000,000.
- Assessing and advising on liability and quantum
- Devising strategies to resolve cases with the best possible outcome, identifying areas to investigate and evidence to collate
- Make full use of the firm’s Case Management System in progressing files from receipt to closure
- Draft pleadings to include Defences and witness evidence
- Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences etc as required
- Achieve targets in terms of chargeable hours, WIP and the collection of client MI
- Working with the wider team to ensure a seamless delivery of services to Keoghs clients
- To ensure compliance with the SRA standards & regulations

Business development and Client Growth:
- Support the Construction Sector Lead in promoting and growing Construction client base
- Attendance at client review meetings – operational and strategic
- Prepare and deliver training/case surgeries/workshops
- Socialising and attending client and industry events
