Elastic SME / Elastic Stack Engineer
If you are an Elastic Stack Engineer and you’ve worked with it at enterprise scale, this could be a really interesting opportunity.
I’m looking for an experienced Elastic SME / Elastic Stack Engineer to take technical ownership of a large, secure on-premises Elastic environment, working across both Elastic Security (SIEM) and Elastic Observability.
This isn’t just a monitoring or support role. You’ll be the technical SME for the platform, getting involved across the full lifecycle – design, implementation, optimisation, troubleshooting, automation and ongoing improvement.
You’ll be working across:
- Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash
- Elastic Agent, Beats and Fleet
- Elastic Security (SIEM)
- Elastic Observability
- Large, highly available Elasticsearch clusters
- Ingestion pipelines and data onboarding
- Cluster performance, JVM, shards, ILM and storage optimisation
- TLS, PKI, LDAP/Active Directory, SAML and platform hardening
- Automation using PowerShell, REST APIs, Python and/or Ansible
- 3rd/4th line troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- HLDs, LLDs, SOPs, runbooks and DR documentation

The key thing here is genuine enterprise, on-premises Elastic Stack experience.
You’ll need strong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash, alongside Elastic Agent/Fleet and experience delivering both Elastic Security and Observability solutions.

You should also have experience managing and optimising large Elasticsearch clusters, good automation skills and some exposure to Splunk.
The role sits within a Defence and National Security environment, so you must be willing and able to undertake DV security clearance. Due to the clearance requirements for this particular role, you must be a British citizen and have lived in the UK for the last 10 years.
