We are actively seeking an experienced Electrical / ICA Commissioning Engineer to join a highly skilled project team, working across a variety of clean and wastewater projects within the water industry.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within the water sector, with a strong understanding of Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) systems. You will play a key role in planning, managing and delivering installation and commissioning activities, working closely with project, construction and water operations teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional looking for a varied role with the opportunity to work on technically interesting projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed commissioning plans based on project deliverables and requirements.
  • Develop commissioning procedures, documentation, and checklists.
  • Manage and supervise onsite installation and commissioning activities, ensuring works meet required specifications, asset standards, and quality requirements.
  • Liaise with site construction teams and water operations teams to plan works, outages, and commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with contractors to undertake fault finding, configuration, and testing of ICA systems.
  • Commission and troubleshoot local control panels, PLCs, and communication systems.
  • Ensure systems are operating in accordance with design specifications and project requirements.
  • Review electrical, instrumentation, and control design specifications and drawings.
  • Provide constructive technical comments and feedback where required.
  • Plan and lead commissioning activities onsite.
  • Attend and lead commissioning meetings, coordinating activities with project stakeholders.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects from installation through to commissioning and handover.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven experience working within the water industry.
  • Have strong experience with ICA / electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Be confident planning and leading commissioning activities.
  • Have experience with PLCs, local control panels, and communication systems.
  • Be comfortable working with contractors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Be able to read, understand, and review technical specifications and drawings.
  • Have strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Be willing to work on a hybrid basis, including attending sites for key installation and commissioning activities.
  • Be willing to travel to various project locations, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Be comfortable leading commissioning meetings and coordinating site activities.
  • Hold a full, clean UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Current SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • CSCS Supervisor card.
  • HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
  • Previous experience delivering commissioning activities across multiple water industry projects.
