Job Title

EC&I Engineer

Summary

We’re looking for experienced EC&I Engineers to join a high-profile nuclear infrastructure project in Glasgow. This is a chance to work on technically challenging design projects that are critical to national defence. Whether you’re an established leader or someone keen to step up into greater responsibility, these roles offer real scope to make an impact.

Location and Working Pattern

Based in Glasgow with a hybrid approach – ideally 2 days per week in the office minimum

Client Overview

Our client supports critical UK defence projects with engineering expertise and innovation. You’ll be working on the Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) programme, focusing on EC&I design for new-build infrastructure at HMNB Clyde.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver EC&I design for new military infrastructure projects.
  • Develop HV and LV systems designs, including SCADA, networks, telecoms and other communications systems.
  • Design building services such as lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection.
  • Prepare technical scope, project design documentation and system specifications.
  • Ensure delivery meets client governance standards, including risk and change management.
  • Manage and review design assumptions and control processes.
  • Lead or contribute to project teams, supporting colleagues to achieve programme goals (leadership for those with proven experience).

Must-have Requirements

  • Current SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
  • British sole nationality from birth (mandatory due to project restrictions).
  • Solid understanding of HV and LV distribution, complex control systems and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with design governance principles.
  • Proven ability to deliver RIBA Stage 3 or equivalent design packages.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience (essential for those stepping into senior leadership roles).
  • Experience with Trimble/Amtech, Dialux or ETAP design tools.
  • Knowledge of building services design for critical environments.
