RS Electrical is a growing electrical contractor specialising in commercial, industrial, and educational sector projects nationwide. We provide a full range of electrical services, including installations, testing and inspection, fire alarm maintenance, LED lighting upgrades, data and containment systems, and ongoing planned and reactive maintenance. Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To support the delivery of electrical installations, maintenance and reactive works across a diverse range of domestic, commercial and industrial environments. The apprentice will work under the supervision of qualified electricians while developing the practical skills and knowledge required to achieve their apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical installations on domestic, commercial and industrial projects.
  • Support electricians with first fix, second fix and final commissioning activities.
  • Install containment systems including tray, trunking, conduit, basket and cable ladder.
  • Assist with the installation of lighting, power, distribution equipment, emergency lighting and fire alarm systems where required.
  • Support the installation of data cabling and associated infrastructure when required.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works.
  • Attend emergency and reactive call-outs alongside qualified engineers.
  • Assist with fault finding and repairs under supervision.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Prepare materials, tools and equipment required for daily work activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Complete work to current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and company quality standards.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, timesheets and other company documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site managers and colleagues.
  • Attend college and successfully complete all apprenticeship coursework and assessments.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions and continuous professional development.

Requirements

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade GCSE Grades 9 - 4 or A* - C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one).
  • Previous work experience in construction or engineering.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
