Job Description

We are recruiting Electrical Building Services Design Engineers at Engineer, Senior and Principal level to join a growing Built Environment team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects delivering innovative electrical building services solutions within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality electrical building services designs in line with client requirements, industry standards and best practice.
  • Prepare electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
  • Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Undertake site surveys, inspections and technical assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Identify and manage engineering risks while ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and CDM requirements.
  • Deliver projects to agreed quality, programme and budget objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and engineering best practice.

Senior and Principal Engineers will also:

  • Lead technical delivery on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Review and approve engineering designs and technical documentation.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Support project delivery, business development and work-winning activities.

Required Qualifications

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional institution such as IET or CIBSE.

Education

  • HNC, HND, Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Experience

  • Experience working as an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer or within a similar consultancy environment.
  • Experience designing electrical building services systems.
  • Experience preparing electrical calculations, specifications, technical reports and design documentation.
  • Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and BIM methodologies.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience undertaking site surveys, inspections and technical assessments.
  • Experience delivering projects across Defence, Government, Justice, Education, Rail, Transport or other public sector environments would be advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of electrical building services design principles.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant electrical industry standards.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and engineering risk management.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM methodologies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate engineering calculations and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet programme deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working towards or holding IEng or CEng status.
  • Membership of IET, CIBSE or another relevant professional institution.
  • Ability to obtain DBS clearance due to the nature of the projects.
