The Company
An established and employee–owned building services specialist is looking to strengthen its Living design team with an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer.
The business delivers mechanical and electrical building services solutions across a range of residential and accommodation–led developments, including high–rise residential, student accommodation and hotels.
You'll have exposure to the full project lifecycle, working closely with estimating, BIM and project delivery teams alongside developers, architects, contractors and specialist subcontractors. The business places a strong emphasis on collaboration, technical development and long–term career progression.
The Role
As an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing electrical building services designs across a range of residential and accommodation projects, supporting delivery from initial design through to BSRIA Stage 6 and project handover.
The Role Will Include
- Developing electrical building services designs through the various project stages up to BSRIA Stage 6
- Supporting the estimating team with the production of tenders for design and build projects
- Working with the BIM team to develop spatially coordinated 3D models and 2D drawings
- Supporting project teams throughout installation, commissioning and handover
- Ensuring designs comply with employer requirements, statutory requirements and relevant technical standards
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, environmental requirements and quality standards
- Liaising with specialist subcontractors involved in project delivery
- Working with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the correct application of electrical plant and equipment
- Attending and contributing to internal and external design and project meetings
- Identifying and proposing alternative design solutions where they provide technical or commercial benefits
- Monitoring design progress and producing design progress reports
- Managing multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Continuing to develop technical knowledge through CPD, training and hands–on project experience

Requirements
The successful Electrical Building Services Design Engineer will ideally have:
- Proven experience in electrical building services design
- Comprehensive technical knowledge across electrical engineering services
- Experience working across multiple projects within a fast–paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a 'right first time' approach
- Good problem–solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve design challenges
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act and requirements relating to Higher Risk Buildings
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of developing designs within agreed cost plans and budgets
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers, architects, structural engineers, consultants, main contractors and specialist subcontractors
- Clear and concise communication skills, both internally and externally
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- A minimum Level 4/5 qualification relevant to Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable
