Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the project’s ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Role: Electrical Calculation Engineer
As an Electrical Calculation Engineer, you will support all Mechanical studies and be responsible for various tasks. These include responding to site queries, conducting mechanical stress analyses, engaging with stakeholders, proposing modifications, and ensuring compliance with Edvance's QA operating procedures and CAD designers to prepare design drawings. Key responsibilities will include:
- Gathering input data, analysing/updating hypothesis notes, and preparing loading description reports.
- Engaging with various stakeholders (installation contractors, CW interfaces, other disciplines) to clarify issues.
- Performing mechanical stress analyses: cable trays flexibility calculations, electrical supports calculations, or any analysis required to resolve encountered issues.
- Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications if sizing criteria are not met. Closing open points and comments.
- Assessing and integrating modification coming from the stakeholders after packages handed over to JDO.
- Doing hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of modification.
- Checking calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies. Proposing improvements for the studies not finalised.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Degree in Science or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of EUROCODE, ASME and RCC-M code
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software: PDMS (if possible), NavisWorks, PIPESTRESS, RSTAB, ANSYS APDL and WORKBENCH
- Experience working in a multicultural environment
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness and quality awareness
- Experience of producing technical documentation
- Remain focused under pressure, thinking clearly and objectively
- Strong planning and organisational skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously
