About the Job
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems used in RACE remote handling projects. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will play a hands-on role in delivering complex electrical equipment, ensuring it is installed safely, operates effectively, and meets required standards. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of cutting-edge projects and may include travel to external sites, including locations outside the UK.
What You'll Be Doing
- Testing and commissioning electrical systems to ensure they meet operational, safety, and site requirements.
- Installing electrical hardware, control panels, cubicles, harnesses, and cabling for remote handling applications.
- Leading the electrical commissioning activities across the RACE project portfolio.
- Preparing and reviewing commissioning procedures, method statements, and safety documentation.
- Supporting manufacturing and assembly for electrical hardware and cabling systems.
- Carrying out inspections and quality assurance activities during equipment build and commissioning.
- Contributing to the development of engineering standards and best working practices.
- Taking responsibility for commissioning activities, ensuring appropriate controls and documentation are in place.
- Supervising technicians undertaking electrical installation, testing, and commissioning tasks.

What You'll Bring
- A formal Electrical, Electronic, or Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, BSc, BEng, or equivalent).
- Experience delivering complex electrical systems in a practical engineering environment.
- Experience testing and commissioning electrical systems.
- The ability to interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
- Experience building, wiring, and modifying electrical panels, harnesses, and large electrical cabinets or cubicles.
- Experience working within a safety-critical or highly regulated engineering environment.
UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires onsite presence 5 days a week. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role.

- A salary of £57,117 (inclusive of Specialist Allowance).
