Electrical, Control, Instrumentation and Security Group Leader

Location: Bristol

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 + Comprehensive Benefits

Working Pattern: Full time (37.5 hrs per week) – Hybrid Working

We are seeking to appoint a Group Leader for our Bristol-based Electrical, Control, Instrumentation and Security Group.

Our work often has a safety-critical element and interfaces with other teams within Frazer-Nash to deliver a multi-disciplinary service offering. Managing these interfaces and effective communication internally and to clients is an essential element of this role.

Person Specification

The candidate should have a solid technical project delivery background, with experience that should include several of the following:

  • Lead C&I projects from concept design through to commissioning.
  • Novel process control system design, including accompanying safety systems.
  • Good understanding of OT Cybersecurity standards, and hold certification through ISA/IEC or GISP.
  • Managing the production, verification, and approval of electrical reports, specifications, and detailed design drawings.
  • Managing a project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget.
  • Client-facing to develop requirements and negotiating contracts/agreements, and progress reporting and risk management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Or equivalent)
  • Good practical knowledge of process control systems, along with a solid understanding of EC&I documents such as SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, and schematics.
  • Extensive experience leading the development of solutions for safety-critical systems aligned with the following standards: IEC 61513, IEC 61508, IEC 61511 ISO 13849, DO-178, and DO-254.
  • Mentoring and development of electrical engineers.
  • Technical leadership on projects.
  • Extensive experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Supervision/Line management experience.
  • Knowledge of a recognised Project Management (PM) framework.

Desirable Requirements

It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements:

  • Experience of working with the following platforms:
    • Siemens TIA Portal
    • Pilz PAS4000
    • Rockwell Studio Logic
  • Formal functional safety certification/accreditation (such as TUV Functional Safety Professional)
  • Formal Cybersecurity certification (ISA/IEC or GIAC)
  • Chartership
  • Interfacing with Regulators (ONR, DMR, CAA, MAA, Ofgem, ORR, etc.)

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertakes, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
