Job Title: Shift Electrical Craft

Department: Llanwern Utilities and Energy

Location: Llanwern (NP19)

Salary: £42,169 (including 30% shift allowance)

Closing Date: 17th September 2026

We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.

Are you looking to advance your Electrical engineering career within a critical, high-hazard Energy environment?

We’re recruiting a Shift Electrical Craftsperson to join our Llanwern Utilities (Energy) department. You will help maintain the safe and reliable operation of vital utility systems, supporting the Shift Control Engineer across steam, gas, water, compressed air and high-voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure.

What you will do

As a key member of our Energy team, you will deliver a wide range of Electrical engineering activities across site, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with engineering and legislative requirements. You will deliver mechanical maintenance across the Energy plant and support HV and fluid power activities once trained.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out Electrical maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding across Energy and Manufacturing operations.
  • Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety requirements, engineering standards, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Developing a strong understanding of fluid power and electrical systems, eventually becoming authorised to issue permits.
  • Responding to engineering, safety, and quality issues, taking corrective action or escalating where required.
  • Participating fully in team activities, using your skills flexibly to meet business objectives.
  • Working closely with, and where required supervising, additional resources to support maintenance activities.
  • Actively contributing to improvements in plant performance through continuous improvement principles.
  • Supporting the Shift Control Engineer in delivering a reliable and efficient service to internal customers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
