Purpose

To support the delivery of high-quality electrical engineering designs for water and wastewater projects across the UK. Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will produce electrical design deliverables, collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction.

Responsibilities

  • Produce electrical engineering designs that meet safety, quality and client requirements.
  • Prepare electrical design calculations, drawings, reports and technical specifications for water and wastewater projects.
  • Develop LV electrical designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Work closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate and coordinated design drawings.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, client specifications and company procedures.
  • Assist with design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering exercises.
  • Support the implementation and recording of design changes throughout project delivery.
  • Contribute to estimating design hours for allocated tasks.
  • Attend client, supplier and internal design meetings as required.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge through mentoring, CPD and professional development.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' electrical design experience within the UK water industry.
  • Experience producing LV electrical designs for water or wastewater treatment projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and water industry design practices.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary design environments.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience with ICA, control systems or telemetry.
  • Knowledge of ATEX design principles.
  • Experience using Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or similar electrical design software.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes and Common Data Environments (ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar).
