🚀 Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services
📍 London / Liverpool / Manchester | 💰 From £60,000 | 🏢 Hybrid / Office-Based

I'm working with a highly regarded Tier 1 contractor with a 750+ strong design consultancy team, looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team.
This is a senior technical and leadership position for an experienced Electrical Building Services / MEP Engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with team leadership, client engagement and business development.
🔧 The Role:
- Lead the delivery of electrical building services engineering across complex projects
- Manage and drive the Electrical Engineering team, ensuring high-quality technical delivery
- Work closely with mechanical and wider multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated MEP solutions
- Oversee designs from concept through to construction
- Prepare and review feasibility studies, design stages, condition reports and technical advice
- Ensure designs are compliant, sustainable, cost-effective and delivered to programme
- Manage team utilisation, quality, performance and professional development
- Maintain high standards of engineering quality, document control and design procedures
- Support bids, tenders and business development opportunities
- Attend client meetings and help develop long-term client relationships
- Translate complex technical information into clear advice for clients and wider stakeholders
- Support the continued growth and development of the Building Services team 👥

👤 What You'll Need:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Building Services or a related discipline – essential
- Strong experience within Building Services / MEP electrical design
- Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET membership
- Proven experience leading and managing electrical engineering teams
- Strong understanding of electrical building services design and delivery
- Experience managing technical quality, design standards and document control
- Confident communicating technical information to clients and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working across multidisciplinary design teams
- Able to meet BPSS security requirements
⭐ Desirable Experience:
Experience delivering MEP electrical design within complex or technically demanding environments would be highly beneficial, particularly: 🏥 Hospitals / Healthcare ✈️ Airports 🏢 Major commercial or public-sector buildings Large-scale and high-value multidisciplinary projects
