The Company
An established Building Services Engineering Consultancy with a long–standing reputation for delivering high–quality, practical and sustainable MEP design solutions across the UK and Europe is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer.
The consultancy works across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, public sector, leisure, commercial and specialist developments, with clients including the NHS, local authorities, emergency services and major commercial organisations.
With a strong focus on technical excellence, BIM and sustainable design, the business delivers coordinated and energy–efficient solutions across complex projects while providing a supportive environment for professional development.
The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for electrical design delivery across a varied portfolio of projects, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams from concept through to RIBA Stage 7.
This is a senior and client–facing position where you'll have the opportunity to influence design strategy, provide technical expertise and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.

The Role Will Include
- Delivering electrical building services designs from concept through to RIBA Stage 7
- Producing electrical calculations, specifications, drawings, schedules and tender documentation
- Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, energy and sustainability engineers
- Ensuring designs comply with BS 7671, Building Regulations Part L, BREEAM and relevant industry standards
- Attending client and design team meetings and representing the consultancy
- Preparing feasibility studies, budget cost estimates and technical reports
- Liaising with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders
- Undertaking site inspections and quality checks
- Preparing site inspection and quality reports
- Contributing to the delivery of practical, sustainable and low–energy electrical solutions
- Supporting the successful delivery of projects to agreed timescales and standards
Requirements
The Successful Electrical Design Engineer Will Ideally Have
- 5+ years' experience within electrical building services design
- Strong technical knowledge of BS 7671
- Experience with emergency lighting and fire alarm design
- Previous experience delivering electrical designs within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Ability to operate confidently in a senior and client–facing capacity
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Competent user of AutoCAD
- Experience using recognised electrical design software
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience Includes
- Revit MEP experience
- AutoCAD experience
- IET or CIBSE membership, or working towards membership
- Knowledge of SAP, SBEM, LZC reporting or low–carbon design
- Experience working on healthcare, public sector or complex commercial projects
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status
