Role - Electrical Design Engineer
Location - Bristol, UK (Hybrid)
My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to take a lead role in the design and delivery of electrical systems for high-tech facilities across sectors including pharmaceuticals, microelectronics, data centres and energy.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, collaborating closely with Mechanical, Process, Architectural and other Design & Engineering Leads to deliver safe, efficient and fully integrated design solutions.
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and detailed design through to construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop electrical design solutions from concept through to project completion.
- Deliver high-quality designs that meet client requirements while considering safety, sustainability and current industry standards.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards and internal procedures.
- Undertake electrical calculations, technical assessments and engineering evaluations to support design decisions.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and integrated design outputs.
- Manage electrical design deliverables in line with project programmes, deadlines and quality requirements.
- Work directly with clients to understand project requirements and provide expert technical guidance.
- Present electrical design proposals and technical solutions confidently in client meetings.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, helping to develop technical capability within the team.
- Contribute to improving engineering standards, processes and best practices.

What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in electrical design engineering within the construction sector.
- Experience within life sciences, pharmaceuticals or other high-tech environments would be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, relevant local, national and international standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience using electrical design and calculation software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proven experience delivering design-and-build projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Ability to manage and drive electrical design activities in line with project programmes and deadlines.
- Comfortable working with external consultants, system integrators, contractors and suppliers.
