Electrical Design Engineer
Farringdon, London
£40,000-£50,000 per annum
THE COMPANY
Our client is a building services and environmental design consultancy, looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to work on some exciting projects across the UK and internationally. They are specialists in M&E engineering, environmental design, and BIM, delivering high-quality and sustainable solutions across a diverse range of projects.
With a strong focus on low-carbon building design, energy efficiency, and sustainable engineering, our client works towards creating buildings with significantly reduced carbon impact. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing electrical load, containment, equipment sizing, and circuit protection calculations.
- Fire alarm, structured cabling, lighting controls, and security systems design.
- Low-carbon technology design and energy analysis.
- Produce electrical drawings, schematics, and technical schedules.
- Coordinate designs with external consultants and contractors.
- Attend site visits and support design delivery through construction.
- Take responsibility for allocated areas as an Electrical Design Engineer and support junior engineers.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND
- 2+ years' experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or similar.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit/BIM.
- Understanding of electrical circuits, life safety, and critical power.
- Awareness of low-carbon technologies and EV charging.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE guidance.
- Experience with Amtech, Dialux, PV-GIS, or IES.
- Good understanding of CDM requirements.
- Working towards CIBSE/IET professional development and chartership.
