Role Description
The Electrical Design Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves designing electrical power systems and distribution networks, preparing single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings, and supporting solar PV and substation projects from concept through detailed design. Day-to-day tasks include performing load flow, short circuit, and fault level analyses, carrying out cable sizing and voltage drop calculations, and ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and client requirements. The Electrical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and contractors, to coordinate design inputs, respond to technical queries, and support procurement and construction activities. The role also requires maintaining clear documentation, updating design revisions, and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and tools.

Qualifications
- Strong skills in Electrical Design and Design Engineering for building and infrastructure projects.
- Solid knowledge of Electrical Engineering and Electricity fundamentals, including relevant standards and regulations.
- Experience with Power Distribution systems, including low- and medium-voltage networks, switchgear, and protection coordination.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) and preparation of single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings is highly beneficial.
- Experience with solar PV systems, substation design, and power system studies (load flow, fault analysis) is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple tasks, and communicate technical information clearly in English.
