The Company
A well–established Building Services Consultancy and Contractor is looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing design team, with the opportunity to be based from either its Kettering or Fareham office.
The business provides mechanical and electrical building services design, installation and commissioning, with a strong specialism in the healthcare sector. Its portfolio includes high–end care homes, hospitals and hotels, alongside projects across the industrial, refurbishment, residential, commercial, retail, education, sport and leisure sectors.
With building services design projects typically ranging from GBP1.5m to GBP6m, the business offers exposure to a varied portfolio of technically challenging schemes. The company also has experience delivering low–carbon engineering solutions and renewable technologies, reflecting the increasing focus on energy efficiency and sustainable building design.
The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and developing electrical building services designs across a diverse range of projects, with a particularly strong focus on healthcare.
Working closely with Mechanical Engineers, Revit/CAD Technicians, clients and other project stakeholders, you'll contribute to the delivery of coordinated, compliant and efficient electrical designs from concept through to completion.
The Role Will Include
- Producing detailed electrical building services designs
- Designing LV distribution, lighting, small power and data systems
- Producing electrical schematics, layouts and associated design information
- Undertaking electrical calculations in accordance with relevant British Standards
- Ensuring designs meet employers' requirements, British Standards and applicable regulations
- Supporting the wider Design/Engineering team to achieve project deliverables
- Attending internal and external design team meetings
- Communicating design solutions to internal stakeholders and external clients
- Assisting with the collation and dissemination of project information
- Working closely with the Revit/CAD team to deliver coordinated design information
- Managing allocated tasks to ensure project deadlines are achieved
- Supporting the delivery of sustainable and low–carbon engineering solutions
- Attending occasional site visits and client meetings where required

Requirements
The Successful Electrical Design Engineer Will Ideally Have
- Experience within a Building Services Consultancy, MEP Contractor or similar environment
- Previous experience producing electrical building services designs
- HNC/HND or degree within Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
- Good understanding of electrical engineering principles and building services design
- Experience using CAD software
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards and regulations
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Full UK driving licence due to occasional site visits and client meetings
Desirable Experience Includes
- Autodesk Revit
- AutoCAD
- Trimble
- Relux
- Experience within healthcare projects
- Knowledge of low–carbon and renewable technologies
