Job Description
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in producing comprehensive and innovative electrical designs, ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems into larger engineering projects. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers to deliver technical solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Creation: Produce conceptual designs, detailed designs, integration/installation drawings, design specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other design engineers to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project design.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all electrical design solutions meet safety, quality, technical, and commercial requirements.
- Third-Party Management: Manage third-party designers, ensuring their designs meet project requirements. Provide design support to installation and commissioning teams to ensure smooth implementation.
- Design Reviews: Lead and participate in internal and external design review meetings, providing expertise and guidance on electrical design matters.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and overall business improvements within electrical design processes.
- Tenders & Budgets: Assist in preparing technical tenders and budgets, providing electrical design input to ensure accurate scope definition.
- Quotation Requests: Handle requests for quotations (RFQs) for specialist equipment related to electrical systems.
- BOM Production: Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical systems and components.

Skills and Experience Required
- Degree or higher education qualification (HNC/HND) in electrical engineering.
- At least 3 years post qualification experience in a mechanical and engineering design environment.
- Previous experience of integration of multiple services within containerised or modular builds advantageous.
- Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD, (experience working with 3D CAD systems is advantageous but not critical).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools for electrical systems (such as ‘Trimble MEP’ / DIALux / Relux).
- The identification and rectification of defects encountered during operational service.
- Working knowledge of 18th Edition (amendment 2) wiring regulations.
- Experience in LPS and earthing systems.
- Experience in EMC and Tempest installations.
- Working knowledge of relevant BS / ISO standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet targets and work to deadlines.

Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary discussions will commence from £42,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- 25 days annual leave.
