Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

If you're an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys seeing your ideas come to life, this could be exactly the challenge you've been looking for. You'll be part of a talented engineering team designing bespoke automation systems for some of the world's most innovative industries, including medical devices, aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing. Every project is different, every solution is bespoke, and your work will have a real impact from day one.

Job Description

As our Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing electrical and pneumatic control systems for bespoke automation machinery, taking projects from concept through to successful customer acceptance.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Meeting with customers and the sales team to understand project requirements
  • Developing electrical system architecture and control designs
  • Specifying industrial control components including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, robots, VSDs, and more
  • Producing electrical schematics, wiring schedules, and complete technical documentation
  • Creating parts lists, safety requirement specifications, risk assessments, and CE documentation
  • Working closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
  • Supporting manufacturing during assembly and testing
  • Attending Factory and Site Acceptance Tests with customers

Person Specification

We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with creative problem-solving.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience designing industrial electrical or control systems
  • A solid understanding of electrical and pneumatic design
  • Knowledge of UL508A Industrial Control Panels
  • Experience using Sistema or Pilz safety software
  • Familiarity with EPLAN (or similar electrical design software)
  • Knowledge of PLC and automation hardware from manufacturers such as Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Mitsubishi, or B and R
  • An understanding of machinery safety standards including BS EN60204:1 and ISO13849
  • A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Design
