Position Description
The role consists of working with the Engineering teams to develop new electrical product designs in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and relevant SOM guidelines, from concept through to full product launch. This includes both the development of standard product ranges and the delivery of bespoke customer solutions and special projects. You will support the Principal Electrical Engineer and Lead Mechanical Engineers where necessary and, as part of the wider engineering team, be responsible for supporting design brief creation, achieving cost targets and designing the electrical infrastructure of products with customer requirements, manufacturing, serviceability and assembly considerations in mind.

You will be required to work closely with the Controls team to bring the electrical and controls design to fruition and support changes to the current portfolio.
Supplier technology plays an important part of new designs so supplier and purchasing interaction will be required. Preferred suppliers will be used wherever possible in a manner that ensures high quality products are available using most efficient manufacturing processes.
Support the testing of products for the verification of compliance for UKCA and CE marking such as EMC and machinery electrical safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high quality customer specific wiring diagrams, to current electrical standards.
- Design control panel layouts.
- Produce accurate parts lists.
- Provide build information for manufacturing.
- Design control panel layouts.
- Ability to source appropriate components.
- Ability to write technical reports and the creation of internal documentation to communicate change.
- Carry out electrical design on a range of HVAC systems, for both new and existing ranges, ensuring safe operation and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Selection/sizing of appropriate electrical components, motors, cabling etc using engineering design calculations and best practice.
- Communicate internally at all levels to provide technical advice or suggestions for improvement to design.
- Communicate with internal customers to provide product technical advice/support.
- Build standard electrical CAD drawing generators, symbol libraries and circuits using AutoCAD software.
- Produce accurate parts lists.
- Design control panel layouts.
- Design terminal lists and layouts.

Required Education & Qualifications
- Hold a technical degree and have previous experience with electrical design, preferably within the HVAC or Machine design sector, although all experience will be considered.
- Must be able to innovate and be able to support ideas through to implementation.
- Knowledge of UKCA and CE marking process.
- Knowledge/understanding of PLC controllers.
- Experience with both 3 phase power circuits & low voltage control circuits.
- Experience with HVAC application and knowledge of cooling and heating systems (Not essential).
- Ability to source appropriate components.
- Knowledge and awareness of current legislation affecting electrical design and testing.
- Ability to work pro-actively, using own initiative.
- Be able to produce high quality accurate information with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong team working skills.
- Have good written & communication skills.

- Solid Edge (3D Modelling)
- SAP
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
