An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Birmingham, delivering major UK rail and transport projects.
Based in Birmingham with hybrid and flexible working available, this role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging infrastructure programmes within an established Building Services team, with excellent scope for technical development and career progression.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the electrical design and delivery of rail-related building and infrastructure projects.
You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, supporting projects through relevant rail design stages and ensuring solutions meet technical, client, and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering technically robust electrical Building Services designs for UK rail projects
- Producing and reviewing electrical engineering calculations, specifications, and design information
- Working within multidisciplinary teams across complex transport programmes
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant UK standards and rail client requirements
- Supporting engineering assurance, verification, and systems engineering activities
- Coordinating electrical designs with other Building Services and engineering disciplines
- Using Microsoft and Autodesk digital tools to support project delivery
- Communicating effectively with clients, project teams, and technical stakeholders
- Managing design risks, deliverables, and key project milestones
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to technical knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement

What You’ll Need
You will have a strong background as an Electrical Engineer within Building Services, ideally combined with significant UK rail project experience.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Electrical Building Services design experience within the built environment
- Experience delivering UK multidisciplinary design projects
- Rail electrical design experience
- Knowledge of UK rail design stages, standards, and assurance requirements
- Experience with engineering assurance, systems engineering, and/or verification processes
- The ability to produce compliant and technically robust electrical designs
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartership through a relevant professional institution such as IET or CIBSE
The position could suit an established Senior Electrical Engineer or a Principal-level engineer looking for a position offering significant technical responsibility.
