About The Role
Electrical Design Engineer role is fundamental in support the design, integration, and testing of electrical systems for advanced Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs). This role involves developing robust, marine ‑ ready electrical architectures and ensuring reliable operation in the demanding conditions of the maritime environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and develop electrical architectures for USV platforms, supporting both mission‑critical and auxiliary systems.
- Create detailed wiring harnesses, power distribution networks, and EMC/EMI‑compliant layouts, ensuring electrical integrity and resilience in harsh marine environments.
- Select, evaluate, and qualify electrical components such as power supplies, DC‑DC converters, relays, connectors, sensors, and protection devices, ensuring suitability for maritime use.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and interface compatibility across the USV platform.
- Conduct system‑level electrical testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, supporting bench tests, harbour acceptance tests (HATs), and sea trials.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation, including electrical designs, schematics, harness drawings, test plans, technical reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Low voltage DC systems (12–48V), grounding strategies, DCDC converters, switching protection, and marine specific electrical design.
- Familiarity with relevant marine electrical standards (e.g., IEC 60092 series) and Defence standards.
- Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and Bills of Materials using industry ECAD tools.
- Oscilloscopes, multimeters, CAN analysers, and other diagnostic instruments for troubleshooting and verification.

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience in electrical systems design, preferably in marine or robotics
- Proficiency in tools such as Draft sight, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar
- Strong understanding of power electronics, battery management systems, and USV integration
- Experience with low-voltage power systems (12–48V), DC-DC converters, and grounding strategies.
- Ability to produce schematics, harness drawings, and electrical BOMs
- Experience with USV systems or uncrewed platforms
- Familiarity with AS9100 workflows
- Exposure to RF/antenna layout considerations and EMI shielding
- Hands-on testing experience and familiarity with oscilloscope, multimeter, CAN analysers, etc.
