Great engineering starts with great people and we're looking for our next one. For almost 50 years, MCA has been designing mechanical, electrical and public health solutions across the South East. As an independent practice, we're free to do things our way: practical, thoughtful engineering, delivered by a close-knit team that genuinely enjoys the work.
We're now looking for an Electrical Design Engineer ready to take real ownership and keep growing their technical expertise.
What you'll do:
- Design electrical building services from concept to completion across a genuinely varied portfolio including residential, education, heritage, healthcare, commercial and community.
- No two projects are the same.
- You'll manage your own workload, coordinate with our mechanical engineers and design teams, get out on site, and help bring on our apprentices along the way.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
