Electrical Design Engineer - Water Sector

Location: Hybrid / Remote

Type: Permanent or Contract

We are recruiting two Electrical Design Engineers to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative water and wastewater treatment projects across the UK.

Role Overview

The positions are available on either a permanent or contract basis and can be based remotely within the UK or from the client's London office. Although predominantly home-based, the roles will require travel to panel manufacturers and fabricators across the UK to carry out inspections and support project delivery.

Responsibilities

Working across multiple projects simultaneously, you will be responsible for developing the electrical design documentation required to support the manufacture, installation and commissioning of automated treatment systems. You will work as part of multidisciplinary project teams and, following an initial induction period, must be comfortable managing your own workload and delivering work with limited supervision.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing electrical schedules, specifications and other design documentation
  • Preparing technical requirements for control panels and associated electrical equipment
  • Supporting the procurement of control panels and electrical packages
  • Reviewing panel designs and supplier documentation
  • Inspecting control panels at UK manufacturing facilities
  • Coordinating with process, mechanical, project and commissioning engineers
  • Managing electrical design activities across several concurrent projects
  • Liaising with clients, Tier 1 contractors, suppliers and panel manufacturers
  • Ensuring designs meet project requirements, applicable standards and client specifications
  • Providing technical support throughout manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Additional Information

Previous experience within the water or wastewater industry would be advantageous, particularly experience working with UK water companies or Tier 1 contractors, but candidates from other relevant process or industrial sectors will also be considered.

The company is particularly interested in speaking with experienced Senior or Principal Electrical Engineers who could join permanently and act as the team’s electrical technical authority. However, applications are equally welcomed from capable Electrical Design Engineers and contractors who can provide immediate project-delivery support.

Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering innovative, fully automated treatment systems for major UK water-sector clients.
