⚡ Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer

📍 Location: Solihull / West Midlands
🏢 Department: Building Services | MEP Design

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of coordinated electrical building services designs across a range of built environment projects.

This opportunity would suit someone at Intermediate to early Senior level who can take ownership of design work, produce clear technical outputs and work closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

🔎 The Role

You will be involved in developing safe, practical and coordinated electrical design solutions that support efficient, low-energy buildings.

✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical building services design solutions from project brief through delivery stages
  • Undertake load assessments, distribution, lighting and related calculations
  • Produce specifications, equipment schedules, drawings and technical documentation
  • Coordinate containment, equipment space and interfaces with wider design teams
  • Track deliverables, technical risks and design changes against project timescales
  • Support client and design team meetings where required
  • Respond to technical queries during installation or delivery stages
  • Maintain a clear checking process and seek senior review where needed

👤 What we are looking for

  • Electrical building services design experience
  • Strong understanding of power, lighting and calculation-led design
  • Experience producing or owning calculations, drawings, specifications and coordinated design deliverables
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
  • Ability to explain design assumptions and coordinate with other building disciplines
  • Good communication skills with clients, internal teams and external consultants
  • Experience with relevant design software

  • Amtech, Trimble or equivalent
  • Revit or AutoCAD
  • CIBSE or IET involvement
  • Progress towards chartership
  • Healthcare, renewable generation, BREEAM or low-energy building experience
