Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days office / 3 days home
Type: Full-time, Permanent

An established and highly regarded building services design consultancy is looking to strengthen its Electrical team in Birmingham.
With over 30 years of experience within the building services sector, the consultancy has developed a strong reputation for delivering practical, sustainable and energy-conscious engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors.
The business operates as a multi-disciplinary MEP consultancy, providing mechanical, electrical and specialist building services design. Its project portfolio spans commercial, retail, education, healthcare, residential, leisure and industrial developments, providing engineers with the opportunity to work across a varied range of projects.

The Role
The Electrical Design Engineer will join an established Electrical team and contribute to the design and delivery of building services projects across a range of sectors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Producing electrical building services designs across a range of project stages
- Developing electrical designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation
- Working on lighting, small power and general electrical building services
- Contributing to projects from initial concept through to detailed design and completion
- Working closely with other members of the MEP design team
- Liaising with clients, contractors, architects and other project stakeholders
- Attending project and client meetings and confidently presenting technical information
- Supporting the delivery of projects to programme and agreed technical standards
- Contributing to design development and identifying practical engineering solutions
- Working towards increased responsibility and progression within the business

The Candidate
The ideal Electrical Design Engineer will have a strong background in building services design and be looking for an opportunity to develop their career within an established consultancy.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 4 years' experience within building services electrical design
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services
- Experience working within a building services consultancy or similar design environment
- Good understanding of electrical design principles and project delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence when attending meetings and presenting technical information
- A professional and personable approach when dealing with clients and project teams
- The ambition to progress towards Senior level
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider MEP team
