Role Description
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical building services designs for commercial projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, and calculations. Day-to-day tasks include carrying out load assessments, power distribution layouts, lighting designs, and coordination of electrical systems with other MEP disciplines. The role involves reviewing technical standards, supporting sustainability objectives, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and client requirements. The engineer will attend design meetings, collaborate with project managers and other engineers, and support site visits, surveys, and inspections as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Leeds Area.

Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in Electrical Design and Electrical Engineering principles for building services.
- Experience in Design Engineering, including developing detailed drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of Electricity fundamentals and safety standards applicable to commercial building projects.
- Practical experience in Power Distribution systems design, including low-voltage networks and coordination with other services.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with relevant UK building regulations, standards, and industry codes of practice.
- Competence with design software and CAD/BIM tools commonly used in building services engineering.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage workload across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Professional registration or working toward registration with an engineering institution (e.g., IEng or CEng) is an advantage.
