Job Overview
An established engineering consultancy is seeking an
Electrical Design Engineer
to support the delivery of high-quality electrical building services design across a range of sectors. This role is ideal for an engineer looking to develop technical expertise, take ownership of design tasks, and progress towards Chartered status within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design on multiple small projects (up to £5m) or act as lead engineer on a medium-sized project (up to £20m).
- Prepare electrical designs in line with client briefs, specifications, and relevant standards.
- Contribute to overall project delivery and implementation.
- Attend internal and external project meetings as required.
- Produce electrical design drawings using AutoCAD.
- Carry out electrical calculations and modelling where required.
- Manage personal deliverables to ensure work is completed within agreed internal project budgets.
- Prepare clear written reports for internal and external use.
- Participate in quality control processes and document management in line with company systems.
- Undertake design audits and assist with building surveys where appropriate.
- Support and contribute to the mentoring of junior team members.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role.

About You

- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body.
- Familiar with UK electrical standards and regulations.
- Competent using AutoCAD and undertaking engineering calculations.
- Well organised, proactive, and comfortable working within project teams.
