Overview
An established facilities management organisation is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join its maintenance team, supporting the delivery of planned and reactive building services maintenance within an educational environment.
This role will suit a customer-focused electrical professional with experience in building maintenance and compliance, capable of working independently while contributing to the wider facilities team. The position offers the opportunity to move to a permanent contract following a successful temporary period.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and complete all associated documentation accurately.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and critical system callouts.
- Undertake electrical fault-finding, repairs, installations, and breakdown maintenance.
- Complete compliance testing and minor electrical works in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
- Ensure all electrical works are completed within agreed timescales and service level requirements.
- Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota as required.
General Building Maintenance
- Undertake minor mechanical repairs and maintenance works.
- Carry out AHU (Air Handling Unit) repairs and small works.
- Support general building maintenance activities, including basic plumbing duties where competent.
- Complete non-electrical PPM activities, such as water temperature monitoring and flushing procedures, following appropriate training and authorisation.
- Work overtime when required to support planned maintenance and reactive works outside normal operating hours.

Compliance & Health and Safety
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain a strong awareness of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Support compliance with statutory and non-statutory maintenance requirements.
- Contribute to quality and environmental standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 principles.
- Keep up to date with industry developments and best practice.
Administration & Communication
- Accurately maintain maintenance records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise effectively with site management and colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of operational procedures and company initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- BS7671 18th Edition Electrical Qualification.
- Previous experience in an Electrical Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and maintenance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Good problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.

- Experience working in educational environments.
- Experience within facilities management, building services, or commercial maintenance environments.
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience across electrical and mechanical systems.
