Senior HV Electrical Engineer / Senior Authorised Person – Data Centres
UK | Full-Time | Data Centres
If you're an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in HV systems, switching, energisation and mission-critical infrastructure, this could be an exciting opportunity to work on major data centre developments across the UK.
We're partnering with a growing data centre business delivering large-scale digital infrastructure across the UK market. With a strong project pipeline, they're looking to strengthen their electrical capability with an experienced Senior HV Electrical Engineer / Senior Authorised Person who can take ownership of complex high-voltage infrastructure across construction, commissioning and operation.
This is a hands-on technical role with a strong focus on HV electrical infrastructure, safe systems of work, energisation and critical power, working closely with project delivery, commissioning, operations, utilities and specialist contractors.
What you'll be doing
- Take technical responsibility for HV/MV electrical infrastructure across major data centre projects.
- Lead and support HV switching, isolation, energisation and safe systems of work.
- Act as an Authorised Person / Senior Authorised Person across relevant electrical systems.
- Support the installation, testing and commissioning of substations, transformers, switchgear and associated power infrastructure.
- Review single-line diagrams, switching schedules, protection schemes and electrical design documentation.
- Coordinate energisation activities across construction, commissioning and operations teams.
- Work closely with utilities, ICPs, IDNOs, contractors, commissioning teams and equipment vendors.
- Support fault investigation, technical problem-solving and electrical risk management.
- Review contractor documentation, RAMS, commissioning procedures and technical submissions.
- Ensure electrical works comply with relevant standards, procedures and safety requirements.
- Support projects through construction, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.

What we're looking for
- 5–10+ years' experience within HV electrical engineering, critical power or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Strong practical experience with HV/MV systems, switching and energisation.
- Current or previous AP/SAP experience within high-voltage environments.
- Experience working on data centres, mission-critical facilities, substations, utilities or other high-load infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of transformers, switchgear, protection systems and electrical distribution.
- Experience supporting electrical infrastructure through installation, testing and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety rules, switching procedures and safe systems of work.
- Ability to coordinate contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification within Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Direct experience with hyperscale or large-scale data centre infrastructure would be particularly valuable.
