Electrical Engineer - BESS & FlexGen
Yorkshire, UK (hybrid)
Mint Selection have partnered with one of the UK's leading Independent Power Producers who are developing and building cutting-edge large scale Energy Storage projects across Europe.
The Role
Working with the Head of Engineering, we're seeking an experienced Project Engineer with an electrical or C&I bias to join our client's subsidiary that manage and operate one of Europe's largest portfolios (over 1GW) of utility-scale BESS and Gas Peaker sites. This role provides multidisciplinary support (electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation etc.) to operational sites and project manages extensions and engineering projects across our client's existing sites and third party assets.
It's an exciting opportunity to be involved in a growing business at an early stage, helping shape the direction of the business and contribute to the UK energy transition. This role would be based in Wakefield with hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support across a portfolio of operational BESS and gas peaking plant sites, including upgrades, troubleshooting and compliance issues.
- Project manage mechanical, electrical or control and instrumentation engineering projects, both small and large.
- Source, engage and manage contractor support where required.
- Represent the company as the end-user during hazard analysis and design reviews of new-build projects.
- Liaise with Field Service Engineers and Control Room personnel to resolve issues escalated beyond these first line teams.
- Ensuring high quality of work is achieved on your own and contracted works by application of an appropriate level of quality assurance.
Key Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or a relevant discipline).
- Flexibility and adaptability to support a range of cross-discipline engineering issues. Willingness to develop understanding beyond your core engineering discipline to achieve this.
- Experience in utility-scale electrical infrastructure projects, ideally within BESS, renewable energy, or power generation.
- Proactive and able to work independently on own initiative.
- Well organised and with a structured, logical approach to problem solving.
- Chartered Engineer status an advantage, but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
