Overview
Assist the Electrical Technical Authority in managing Electrical Engineering activities across all of Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets including Safety, Operational, Financial, Environmental, Legal, Reputation & Plant maintenance support.
Provides electrical technical support and input for any proposed engineering modifications/changes, technical projects and asset maintenance activities.
Supports the Electrical Technical Authority in developing discipline specific strategies, managing technical and operational risks, setting project and engineering technical specifications, developing and managing technical support contracts and verification/ audit of technical framework for discipline.
Location – Woodland House, Hull – flexible working with a mix of office and home working
Key Accountabilities
- Manages the electrical ‘Ex’ database within the CMMS and ensures all ‘Ex’ equipment is registered and is being maintained.
- Carry out electrical authorisation assessments on behalf of the Electrical Technical Authority.
- Ensures technical integrity is maintained within discipline.
- Enactment of Centrica Electrical Engineering Strategy & ensuring compliance with standards and procedures.
- Ensure maintenance strategy and standards within discipline are enacted within all of Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets.
- Provide technical discipline input into operational risk management.
- Ensure the optimal technical solution for modifications/projects are selected aligning with strategy and ensuring solutions are designed to appropriate standards that meet operational and business requirements.
- Develop concept and front end definition of technical project scopes.
- Support the design, construction and commissioning stages of the Projects as appropriate including the resolution of technical queries.
- A core requirement of the role is provide direct support to Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets. This will involve regular travel to the onshore terminal and offshore assets and also will involve overnight stays on the offshore assets in line with operational priorities.
- Support & participate in HS&E improvement initiatives to manage people, legislative & environmental risk.
- Participate in and lead root cause analysis to resolve Safety & Reliability issues.
- Be a member of the IMT duty rota to provide 24 hour incident support to Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Experience of electrical engineering within the Oil & Gas or associated major accident hazard process industries on and offshore.
- Experience in the design and specification of electrical equipment in hazardous areas. COMPEX Ex12 module preferred.
- A degree in electrical engineering is essential or appropriate and relevant experience. Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- A self-starter, the job holder will operate with broad direction from the Electrical Technical Authority.
- Risk management to company standards is a part of the role.
- Skilled in the application of functional assurance processes and knowledgeable in the application of business processes.
- Able to apply HSE principles across all technical activities.
- Has a good insight into the market and is able to assess the commercial impact of engineering decisions.
- Leadership of specialists and peer network within own discipline.
- Job holder must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate their ability to foster wider relationships within Centrica and wider Oil & Gas industry.
- Well-developed planning and organisational ability.
- The ability to act with authority, demonstrate leadership skills and retain the confidence of the team.
- Experience preferred using SAP.
