Context
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of multidisciplinary design projects within the built environment and transport infrastructure sectors. This role will contribute to the development of innovative and effective engineering solutions across a range of rail and infrastructure schemes, with a particular focus on electrical systems and their integration within wider project design.
Working closely with internal teams, project managers, engineers and external stakeholders, you will help deliver high-quality technical outputs while supporting safe, coordinated and efficient project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with electrical design experience who is keen to develop their expertise in complex infrastructure environments.
Missions/Main Duties
- Prepare outline and detailed electrical designs for multidisciplinary projects, ensuring outputs are technically robust and appropriate to project requirements.
- Follow established procedures and project controls throughout delivery to support quality, consistency and compliance.
- Interface with other disciplines and external engineers to ensure multidisciplinary designs are coordinated, integrated and effectively developed.
- Contribute technical expertise to project-specific tasks and support the delivery of engineering solutions across a range of schemes.
- Provide updates to senior engineers, technical leads and project management teams on project progress and key issues.
- Apply relevant health and safety requirements to support the wellbeing of staff and others affected by SYSTRA’s work.
- Support the development of innovative ideas and contribute to business improvement initiatives where appropriate.
- Continue to build your professional capability in line with SYSTRA’s expectations and your chosen professional body.

Profile/Skills
- Experience in electrical services design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of railway lineside systems, such as points heating, signalling power, level crossings, general LV distribution and/or lighting systems.
- Experience in the use of industry-wide software for electrical calculations and design.
- An understanding of multidisciplinary design issues associated with railway lineside systems and/or the built environment.
- HNC qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant electrical engineering discipline.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Good communication skills and the ability to provide clear technical input across project teams.
- A proactive attitude towards professional development, quality and continuous improvement.
