About the Role
Position Details
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Location: RAF Fairford (with travel to RAF Welford as required)
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, plus an out-of-hours on-call rota
- Salary: £40,000–£43,000 + On-Call Allowance + Overtime
We are recruiting for three Electrical Engineer & Tester positions to join our expertise-driven team. This technically interesting role blends planned maintenance, testing, inspection, and reactive fault-finding within a high-security Defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain critical electrical infrastructure across diverse RAF facilities, including commercial buildings, operational hangars, and domestic accommodation.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance, complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), undertake fixed wire testing, and inspect distribution boards.
- Conduct emergency lighting tests, diagnose/rectify electrical faults, execute minor installations, and manage a range of domestic/commercial electrical tasks.
- Provide reactive and emergency callout support (response required within 1 hour of callout).
- Work within specialist facilities, including ESTS 6 explosive storage environments (munitions, cruise missiles, and bomb storage).
- Gain expertise in Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) roles, which are highly valued at RAF Fairford (preferred experience).

Success Factors

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (equivalent qualifications acceptable).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification required.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent qualification.
- Preference for previous experience in commercial environments (e.g., large buildings, industrial facilities, hangars, or critical infrastructure).
Security & Eligibility
- Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC).
Work Pattern
- Core hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday (8:00am–4:30pm).
- On-call rota (emergency cover between 4:30pm and 8:00am, including weekends).
