Electrical Engineer – Periodic Safety Review & Infrastructure Support
Remote working - 1-2 days per month in Scotland
Contract Length: 12 Months
Hours: 37 Hours per Week
Security Clearance: SC Clearance Required (born in UK)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the safety, reliability, and ongoing assessment of critical infrastructure within a highly regulated engineering environment.
This opportunity is ideally suited to candidates with experience in electrical design, maintenance, installation, asset integrity, engineering assurance, or safety case support. Engineers from nuclear, defence, power generation, utilities, rail, oil & gas, petrochemical, or other high-hazard sectors are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs), supporting infrastructure assessments, design assurance activities, and engineering modifications to ensure continued safe operation of safety-critical assets.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review electrical engineering design packages.
- Undertake plant inspections, surveys, and walkdowns.
- Deliver activities associated with Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs).
- Assess infrastructure design, condition, ageing mechanisms, and fitness for continued service.
- Define reliability requirements and operational constraints.
- Review maintenance strategies and work control arrangements.
- Support engineering modifications and design changes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, security, and engineering standards.
- Act as an Intelligent Customer for externally delivered engineering and safety-related work.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture within a highly regulated environment.
Essential Experience
- Broad electrical engineering experience within a regulated industry.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- HV/MV electrical distribution systems
- LV electrical distribution systems
- Protection systems, Control & Instrumentation (C&I), Electrical machines, Synchronous motors
- Frequency converters/changers
- Diesel generators or alternators
- Experience undertaking or supporting Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs).
- Knowledge of ONR Licence Condition 15 (LC15) and/or DNSR Authorisation Condition 15 (AC15).
- Experience assessing Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs).

Essential Qualifications
- HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable knowledge of electrical infrastructure design principles within a highly regulated industry.
