Pay rate: Up to £550 PAYE or £700 Umbrella per day DOE
Location: Remote working – 1 day in the office and or on site required every 2 weeks, subject to client’s request
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support across a portfolio of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and private wire projects. The role involves supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle, from development and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, technically robust, and commercially viable. The successful candidate will provide technical assurance, review engineering deliverables, manage engineering risks, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive successful project delivery and engineering excellence across the renewable energy portfolio.
Role Information:
- Provide electrical engineering support and technical leadership across Solar PV, BESS, and private wire projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Review and assure electrical designs, studies, specifications, and engineering deliverables produced by consultants, contractors, and OEMs.
- Support project development activities, including feasibility assessments, optioneering, and identification of technically and commercially viable solutions.
- Manage and mitigate electrical engineering risks, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and safety requirements.
- Support procurement activities through technical evaluations of tenders, supplier engagement, and resolution of technical queries.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while promoting consistent engineering standards and best practices.
- Support construction, commissioning, testing, and handover activities, resolving technical issues and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, specifications, and processes across the organisation.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience in power systems or renewable energy.
- Strong background in electrical design and delivery of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), or high-voltage infrastructure projects.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering designs, technical specifications, and studies from consultants, contractors, and OEMs.
- Good understanding of electrical power systems, including grid connections, protection, and HV/MV distribution systems.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and industry practices (e.g. CDM Regulations, IEC/BS standards).
- Proven ability to manage technical risks and provide pragmatic engineering solutions in a project delivery environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers and contributing to collaborative team development.
