About the role
We’re seeking a proactive Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing team at Vestacy in Derby. In this hands-on role, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining and optimising our high-speed packaging and production lines ensuring our products are manufactured and delivered to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. You’ll tackle technical challenges head-on, lead troubleshooting and CI activities, and take ownership of both planned and reactive maintenance. With a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance.
Your responsibilities
- Support and ensure lines are operating at maximum efficiency to meet production plans and quality standards
- Lead and coordinate breakdown engineering activities and deliver right-first-time repairs
- Define, plan, and execute maintenance tasks with timely and effective handovers
- Complete root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions to reduce downtime
- Log all maintenance and repair activities accurately into the CMMS system
- Drive continuous improvement of equipment performance and support new projects
- Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and quality standards across the work area
- Contribute to departmental R&M budget control and ensure targets are met
- Take ownership of your training plan and support team development
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure full regulatory compliance
The experience we're looking for

- Production line experience on high-speed packaging equipment in FMCG, food, or pharmaceutical sectors
- Trained to an Electrical minimum craft level; ONC/HND preferred
- Skilled in fault finding and developing PLC programs (Siemens S5 and S7)
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC inverter drives and electrical systems in hazardous areas (COMPEX preferred)
- 17th edition qualification advantageous but not essential
- Mechanical and pneumatic awareness with strong IT skills
- Proven ability to work independently and react quickly under pressure
- Background in delivering high performance while leading from the front
- Analytical mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
- Familiarity with GMP and KPI-focused environments
