Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting on behalf of Total Engineering & Design Ltd for an Electrical Engineering Designer to join its growing team in Derry / Londonderry.
Total Engineering & Design Ltd is a specialist engineering design and drafting consultancy delivering multidisciplinary solutions across mechanical, piping, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering. The company supports clients across industries including chemical, process, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and advanced manufacturing.
The Role
The Electrical Engineering Designer will support the delivery of electrical design projects from initial concept through to construction. This position would particularly suit someone with a background as an Industrial Electrician, electrical technician or electrical maintenance professional who has gained experience within industrial environments and is looking to move into a predominantly office-based electrical design role. You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to turn technical and engineering requirements into practical electrical designs and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- Gather and interpret technical information through client documentation, meetings and site surveys.
- Support project scheduling, resource coordination and general project delivery activities.
- Develop and organise technical information for electrical design specifications and documentation.
- Produce electrical designs for internal and client review.
- Apply relevant industry best practice, statutory regulations and company standards.
- Assist with the development and revision of electrical single-line diagrams.
- Produce and update electrical schematic drawings.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Support site surveys and assessments where required.
Essential Criteria
Applicants should have:
- Relevant engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience within an engineering design or project environment.
- Minimum 2 years' experience within process, manufacturing or facilities environments.
- Full UK/ROI driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK and Ireland.

Desirable Criteria
It would be advantageous to have:
- City & Guilds 2382 / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Practical knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
- Experience or knowledge of:
- CAD design and drafting.
- Electrical cable sizing calculations.
- Electrical schematic design.
- Industrial communication protocols.
- Site surveying and assessment of existing electrical installations.
