Description
Electrical Engineering Technician
37 Hours per Week | Permanent | All Year Round | Point 14 - 21
Prepare the environment. Support the learning. Help practical engineering come to life.
Great practical engineering teaching depends on more than what happens at the front of the classroom.
Equipment needs to work. Components need to be available. Laboratories need to be safe. Practical sessions need to be ready before students arrive.
That’s where you come in.
As our Electrical Engineering Technician, you’ll support practical learning across Electrical and Electronic Engineering, from Level 3 through to higher-level study.
You’ll prepare equipment and resources, support practical sessions, maintain laboratories and workshops and help students and lecturers use specialist equipment safely and effectively.
You might already work as a technician, or you could be an experienced industry practitioner looking to bring your practical knowledge into education.
Either way, you’ll need good technical judgement, strong organisation and a genuine commitment to safe working.
What you'll do
- Prepare apparatus, components and specialist equipment for practical teaching.
- Set up and calibrate electrical test equipment and instrumentation.
- Support lecturers and students during practical sessions and projects.
- Help students use tools, testing equipment and laboratory resources safely.
- Carry out routine inspection, PAT testing where appropriate, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
- Keep laboratories and workshops safe, clean and organised.
- Support risk assessments, COSHH and other health and safety requirements.
- Monitor stock and order electrical components, consumables and equipment.
- Maintain accurate stock and inventory records.
- Manage the safe storage, issue and return of tools and equipment.
- Keep your technical and occupational knowledge current.
- Work with the wider Engineering team to continuously improve practical learning environments.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
